Sting at Nikaïa…


After a sold-out concert this summer at the Sporting Summer Festival in Monaco, Sting returned to the Côte d'Azur on Saturday for another sold-out show at Nikaia Nice, where nearly 9,000 spectators awaited him. With his arm in a sling (due to a shoulder problem), the former Police frontman was unable to play bass, but he made up for it on vocals, with all the hits from his prolific career, rearranged for the album My Songs. His voice is still there, powerful and high-pitched. Fans were able to discover live new versions of "Englishman In New York," "Fields Of Gold," "Shape Of My Heart," "Every Breath You Take," "Roxane," and "Message In A Bottle," performed by an effective but somewhat impersonal band. With flawless musicality, the show is pleasant to watch and listen to, but never really takes off. Classic lounge rock. The audience in the stands remained seated until the encore.
