The story of this Nantes musician who played with Sting...
A keyboardist from Nantes, Frédéric Renaudin played with Sting at the beginning of his tour, with whom he has kept in touch, and will be performing this Wednesday evening at the Zénith as a spectator.
Musician Frédéric Renaudin played at the last minute during the first concert of the tour at the Seine Musicale. Sting's musician was stranded due to a defective passport. On Wednesday evening, he attended Sting's concert at the Zénith in Nantes as a spectator.
A musician for many stars (Julien Clerc, Florent Pagny, Nolwenn Leroy, etc.), Nantes native Frédéric Renaudin first met Sting at a Victoires de la Musique ceremony and then accompanied him on the TV show "Taratata." When the former Police singer returned to France last May for a concert at the Seine Musicale, panic broke out in his band. The English keyboardist was stuck at the airport due to a paperwork problem. Sting then remembered... Frédéric Renaudin.
Four days before the concert, the English singer's production company asked him to replace him. Without further ado, the Nantes native agreed and worked on the 22 songs of the concert. He got through with thanks from the big boss. "Of course, I've kept in touch with the team," he says, "and I have my badge to go to all the concerts on the tour as an artist. But this time, I'm not playing, I'm just coming to see a concert I gave six months earlier. It's a unique story. Above all, I'm going to meet in person the man I replaced at the concert at the Seine Musicale, keyboardist Kevon Webster. We only knew each other virtually."
Invitations
Frédéric Renaudin smiles at the mention of the number of people who have asked him for tickets. "I've had requests to go to his dressing room or to eat with him. I understand them. Someone also offered to do a duet on stage. I'm used to playing with different artists, so in these cases you judge fame!"
